Since the last journal update life has been pretty lazy. Beaches, motorbikes, beaches, motorbikes… you get the picture.
To summarise; after 2 weeks in Nepal I spent 10 days in Thailand lazing by the beach in Hua Hin. After that I flew to Bali to spend 2 weeks doing much of the same on Nusa Lembongan, which is where I’m writing this from.
Hua Hin was a surprise for me. A little beach-side gem not too far from Bangkok. In fact, it’s only 3 hours on a £1 train, so I couldn’t complain!
The highlight of that area for me was Sam Roi Yot National Park which took my on a 150km road trip from Hua Hin with some hiking and cave exploring. The marshlands there were sick.
Moving on to Bali, I was quickly reminded of why I didn’t rate Kuta when I last visited Bali in 2019, so after 2 nights I switched it up and took a speed boat to Nusa Lembongan. Kuta is just too much. Too much of everything. And fairly pricey too.
This is my first time visiting an Indonesian island that isn’t Bali or Nusa Penida and I’m nearing the end of my 5 day stay here.
Although it’s the rainy season and it’s been hosing it down almost 24/7, I’ve still managed to do some exploring. Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan are so small and are connected by a picturesque little yellow bridge. Proper island vibes!
The Devil’s Tear blowholes and Blue Lagoon are certainly a highlight of Nusa Lembongan.
It’s a quiet place and exactly the vibe I was looking for. It’s also a lot cheaper than the likes of Kuta.
I have 8 days left in Indonesia before flying to Perth to start looking for work down under, so maybe I’ll head to another island to continue the procrastination of the ‘real world’ decisions. Hopefully the rain stops soon though!
I guess you’ll have to wait for the next journal to find out what I decided!
Here are some iPhone shots from the last few weeks in Hua Hin and Indonesia!
